Real Maryland FC Open Tryouts
Silver Spring, MD – On the heels of a capacity tryout for both the youth and professional teams, Real Maryland will hold one last tryout at the end of March. In addition to the full capacity of the last tryout, there have been numerous inquisitions as to if the club is going to have any more open tryouts. On Monday, March 29th Real Maryland FC will conduct a youth tryout for all age groups. Both the Travel Teams and the Super Y League Teams will train at Richard Montgomery High School that night. Ages 7-16 will begin training at 6 pm. The U17’s & U20’s will begin training at 7 pm. Each session will run approximately an hour and a half to two hours. On Tuesday, March 30th the Monarchs Professional Team will conduct its last tryout for the 2010 Season. The tryout will be held at Richard Montgomery High School from 6-9 pm. There will be a limit of 50 trialists for the final tryout. For information on forms, fees and how to sign up please refer to Real Maryland FC’s Tryout Section.
Monarchs Sign Hamed Modibo Diallo
Silver Spring, MD -- Real Maryland and Say Management USA, LLC have reached an agreement on the former International Ivory Coast Hamed Modibo Diallo. Diallo, a native of Côte d'Ivoire, has signed with the Real Maryland FC Monarchs of the United Soccer Leagues, pending Visa approval. Before he signed with the Monarchs, he played with the Carolina RailHawks in the USL First Division. Prior to seeing limited playing time in 2009, Diallo scored seven goals and registered three assists in 16 games to finish with a team-leading 17 points in 2008. He registered an assist in his debut with the team (a 1-1 draw at Vancouver) and scored a hat trick in a 4-3 loss at Seattle on Aug. 24. In 2007, Diallo started his USL Career with the Rochester Rhinos on fire, he scored nine goals and had two assists from a team-leading 20 points. In 1999, Diallo was the top goal scorer (20) in France’s Ligue 2 with Stade Laval. He also won the Ligue 2 Golden Boot in 2002 with Amiens SC. Diallo has also played professionally in Belgium, Italy, Sweden and Qatar.
Real Maryland FC Community Soccer Festival
Silver Spring, MD – On March 26th, 27th and 28th, Real Maryland FC will be hosting their Inaugural Community Soccer Festival. The Festival will span over three days that will see elite teams from the Greater DC Metro and Mid-Atlantic Area. There will be teams from the Professional Ranks, College Level and Elite Youth Level that will be participating in the event. Teams that are to be included in the event are Real Maryland FC, The Harrisburg City Islanders, American University, Towson University, UMBC, Loyola U Maryland, Georgetown University, George Mason University, George Washington University, Wesley College, Real Maryland Super Y League, Potomac Academy, Northern Virginia Royals Super 20 Team, DC United U18 Team, Olney SC, Pachuca FC and Bethesda SC. The Community Soccer Festival is intended to bring teams from the local regional area to get an excellent opportunity to play some talented competition. In addition to the strong competition, Real Maryland FC’s European Partner Real Sporting Gijon will be sending over a scout to help assess the talent of the area and to see if there is anyone that could be invited back to Spain.
REAL MARYLAND FC 2010 HOME OPENER ANNOUNCED Rockville, MD at Richard Montgomery High School will see the Professional Monarchs return for the 2010 season. The Home Opener will be against the Piittsburgh Riverhounds Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 6:30 pm. The match up will see the two teams square off at Lester Statdium at Richard Montgomery High School. Last Season, the two teams split their match ups with each winning at home. Tickets are on sale now with a great family pack special that runs until January 31st - Four Season Pass Tickets for $100. The Monarchs went 6-3-1 at home in 2009 and look to continue the positive home vibes in 2010. Come Support the team 2010!! PRE-SEASON SPECIAL!!! Real Maryland FC is offering a Family of Four Season Pass for $100 for the Professional Team’s 2010 Season. This is good until March 31st. Real Maryland FC and Real Sporting de Gijón Form Partnership
Silver Spring, MD -- Real Maryland FC announced today that it has formed a partnership with Real Sporting de Gijón who plays in La Liga, Primera Division of Spain. The Spanish club was established June 1, 1905 in Gijón, Asturias.
