Silver Spring, MD (Tuesday, May 03, 2011) – Real Maryland F.C. kick off their 2011 home campaign at Roy Lester Stadium on the campus of Richard Montgomery High School next Sunday, May 15, when the Monarchs welcome regional rival Northern Virginia Royals to Rockville, MD. First kick is set for 4:00 p.m. with gates opening at 2:00 p.m. The first 200 paid fans in attendance will receive a free Real Maryland rally towel.

The home opener is sure to be a hotly contested affair as the match counts toward qualification for the 2011 U.S. Open Cup and marks the first match of the season between the Monarchs and a brewing regional rival, the Northern Virginia Royals. Roy Lester Stadium on the campus of Richard Montgomery High School will once again be the setting for all eight Monarch home games. The 2011 home schedule is sure to offer a terrific fan experience with halftime shows, prizes, raffles, and games at each match.

Real Maryland F.C. is entering its fourth season in the United Soccer Leagues (USL), and its first in the USL Premier Development League (PDL). The PDL features 64 teams across the United States and Canada in four geographic conferences and nine divisions, and provides elite collegiate players the opportunity to taste a higher level of competition while maintaining their eligibility. The PDL Regular Season consists of 16 regular season games with 8 home games and 8 away matches and concludes on July 24th. Real Maryland F.C. is a member of the South Atlantic Division in the PDL Eastern Conference along with the Carolina Dynamo, West Virginia Chaos, Fredericksburg Hotspurs, Virginia Beach Piranhas, and the Northern Virginia Royals.

The Monarchs kick off their 2011 PDL season the day before the home opener when they travel to Virginia on Saturday, May 14, to take on the Virginia Beach Piranhas at 5:30 p.m. Real Maryland F.C. Head Coach Silvino Gonzalo will be leading a roster comprised nearly entirely of players from Maryland, Virginia and D.C.
