Silver Spring, Maryland – On the heels of a tremendous turnout for the Monarch’s Second Open PDL Tryout on a balmy New Year’s Day, Real Maryland FC is pleased to announce the addition of Val Teixeira to the 2012 PDL Team as a player and coach.
Pending League and Federation approval Valdemar Teixeira will re-join the Monarchs for a second season in a row as a player and in a new role working within Coach Silvino Gonzalo’s Coaching Staff. During the acquisition of Teixeira in the latter half of the 2011 PDL Season, the Monarchs saw resurgence and made a run for the playoffs only to narrowly fall short.
Coach Teixeira has played and coached from the youth ranks through the professional ranks. He currently serves as an assistant at Loyola Blakefield High School Boys Soccer Program and is heading the U-15 Girls PSC Premier, U-17 Girls SAC Wolves.
In addition to his current positions, Teixeira has directed camps for almost every professional club he has played for over the past decade that include clubs such as Crystal Palace Baltimore (USL & NASL), Chesterfield Football Club (English League 2), G.D. Sanjoanense (Portugal 2nd Division), New Hampshire Phantoms (USL 2), Rhode Island Stingrays (Pro Select League & USL 2) and S.L. Benfica Juniors (Portugal).
“I think Val will continue to add value to the PDL team no matter what position he is playing or coaching in, just don’t put him in goal, said General Manager David Noyes. Val Teixeira brings class and professionalism to the game both on and off the pitch.”
In 2010, Val Teixeira was given an honorable mention by USLsoccer.com, the official website of USL, as one of the best and most influential USL Second Division Players of the past decade.

We want to built a great relationship with the local Universities recruiting the top players in the area and help the Club achieve their goals for the 2012 season, said Teixeira. My goal is to help the young players achieve their dream to became a professional player with hard work, dedication and determination during ttheir time with the Monarchs."
The Monarchs are looking for another positive season in the United Soccer Leagues PDL South Atlantic Division. The South Atlantic may have some new friends this season so it should be a fun one to follow.
Real Maryland FC’s Super Y League Academy will look to have its second round of tryouts on Monday, January 23, Wednesday, January 25 and Thursday, January 26. After four positive seasons with many players and teams achieving many accolades, preparation for the 2012 Season continues on all fronts.
Real Maryland FC is a proud member of the United Soccer Leagues where it participates in the Player Development League and the Super Y League.
