Pablo Gomez

The addition of Pablo Gomez will bolster an already talented Monarchs midfield.

The younger brother of Colorado Rapids midfielder and 2006 MLS MVP Christian Gomez, Pablo joins Real Maryland from the youth system of Club Atletico Nueva Chicago in Argentina.

Playing for Real Maryland marks Pablo Gomez's second stint with soccer in the metropolitan area. In 2006, Gomez had a trial with DC United during their preseason training in Bradenton, Florida. The trial, however, did not pan out and Gomez returned to his club team in Argentina.

 

Nilson Perez

An experienced forward, Perez is expected to play an integral part in the Real Maryland attack as he looks to add onto the 78 goals he scored while playing in his native Colombia.

Perez joins Real Maryland from La Equidad, a team in the premier division in Colombia, which is currently in first place. Perez made four appearances with the Colombian U-20 National Team in the South American Championships in Bolivia in 1994. Perez registered three assist in the tournament.

Born in Barranquilla- Atlantico Colombia, Perez came to the United States on June 26, 2007.

His favorite soccer player is Ronaldo and his favorite team is Inter Milan. Perez’s favorite food is seafood and his favorite music is vallenatos. Perez’s favorite vacation spot is back home in Colombia.

 

Emilio Zelaya

A goalkeeper with vast professional experience, Zelaya and Christian Montero will be in tough competition all season long for the #1 goalkeeper jersey.

Zelaya comes to Real Maryalnd from local team Estrella Roja which finished 2nd in the table last season.

In his native El Salvador, Zelaya played for Luis Angel Firpo in the Salvadorian First Division. The goalkeeper also played for CD Aguila. Zelaya got his first taste of professional soccer with C.D. Vencedor in the El Salvadorian second division.

Zelaya came to the United States in 1994 and moved to Maryland just this year.

Zelaya’s favorite soccer team is Real Madrid, but his favorite player is Italian goalkeeper Luigi Buffon. Zelaya loves seafood and listens to reggeaton. His favorite vacation spot is on the beaches of El Salvador.

 

Phillipe Bissohong

An uncompromising defender, Bissohong is a true testament to the quality of players Maryland soccer produces.

Bissohong was born in Yaonde, Cameroon and came to the United States in 1998. Bissohong attended Springbrook High School in Silver Spring, Maryland where he led the team in scoring with 10 goals, taking the Blue Devils to the state finals. For his efforts Bissohong was selected First Team All County and was a Washington Post All-Met honorable mention for the 2001 season.

Bissohong went on to play at UMBC. He was named the UMBC unsung hero for the 2006 season and in 2007, anchored a defense that posted 9 shutouts in 18 games. Bissohong was named to the America East Conference All Tournament team.

Bissohong’s favorite player is Zinedine Zidane and his two favorite teams are Arsenal and the Cameroonian National team, known as the “Indomitable Lions”. 

Look for Bissohong to form a solid partnership with Daryl Ferguson in the center of defense.
