Regular Season Schedule Released

2011 Home Opener May 15th vs. Northern Virginia Royals

Silver Spring, MD – Real Maryland FC is proud to announce the unveiling of the 2011 Regular Season Schedule.  The Monarchs will participate in the South Atlantic Division with teams such as the Carolina Dynamo, West Virginia Chaos, Fredericksburg Hotspurs, Virginia Beach Piranhas and the Northern Virginia Royals.

The PDL Regular Season consists of 16 regular season games with 8 games at home and 8 games away beginning on May 1st and concluding on July 24th.

Going into their fourth year in the United Soccer Leagues, the Monarchs will play their home opener on Sunday, May 15th at 4:00 pm versus the Northern Virginia Royals.  Four out of the first five games count as USL Regular Season games and U.S. Open Cup Qualifiers.  This is including the Home Opener at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD where all Real Maryland Home Games will be played.

Guided by Head Coach Silvino Gonzalo and his Coaching Staff, the team will be comprised mostly of Maryland, Virginia and DC Metro players.  Currently registered on the roster are players currently attending George Mason University, West Virginia University, Wake Forest University and Davidson College to name a few.

Most players from these universities are returning home to Maryland to represent Real Maryland FC.

“We wanted to have more local players on the squad this year to re-enforce our commitment to the Maryland Soccer Community as a vehicle for players to be able to move on to a higher level,” said General Manager David Noyes. “We are proud to say we have players returning back to the area that played at local High Schools such as Clarksburg HS, Magruder HS and Gonzaga.”

The 2011 Season Family Season Pass is now on sale.  To purchase tickets, view the schedule, follow the players or for any other Real Maryland FC information, please visit www.realmaryland.us.

The PDL will feature 64 teams in four geographic conferences and nine divisions.  The Eastern Conference features three divisions while the Southern, Central and Western Conferences feature two divisions each.  The season concludes on Sunday, July 24, with 54 teams in action the final weekend as playoff spots are decided.
